Not Exactly a Relaxing Day

On Friday morning, Karim planned to relax at home with a film and a comfortable chair. Then his cousin Salma arrived with two bicycles and suggested a ride along a quiet riverside route. Karim agreed only because she promised they would return before the afternoon heat. He packed some water, checked the brakes and imagined a gentle journey with several stops for photographs.

The first part was pleasant. They passed gardens and small shops while the streets were still quiet. Soon, however, the road became uneven, and the sun was stronger than Karim expected. He began to complain. Salma suggested resting beneath a tree and checking the map before continuing. She reminded him that turning back was also a sensible option if they felt unsafe.

After drinking water and taking a break, Karim decided he could finish the shorter route. They reached a viewpoint and watched boats moving across the river. He was tired when they returned, but he had noticed parts of the city he usually ignored. That evening, Karim admitted that leisure did not always mean doing nothing. Sometimes a carefully planned challenge could become the most memorable part of a day.
