A large online shop announced a special sale, and Layla saw a countdown timer beside a pair of headphones. The website claimed that only a few items remained. She had not planned to buy headphones that week, yet the warning made her feel she might lose an important opportunity. Before clicking the payment button, she asked herself whether the purchase was necessary.

Layla compared the advertised price with earlier prices and checked the product's technical details. She discovered that a similar model offered the features she needed for less money. She also read the shop's return policy and estimated delivery costs. The largest discount shown on the screen, she realised, did not automatically represent the greatest saving.

At school, Layla explained the experience to her classmates. They discussed limited-time offers, emotional pressure and the difference between a genuine bargain and an unnecessary expense. Together, they prepared a simple checklist: decide what you need, set a budget, compare trustworthy sellers and read the conditions before paying. Layla learned that wise shopping sometimes means making a purchase, but it can also mean confidently choosing not to buy anything at all.
