Reading passage — قطعة القراءة
Every Friday, Salma visited a small museum near her home in Alexandria. The building contained old photographs, pottery and letters donated by local families. She enjoyed looking at the objects, but she noticed that visitors often walked past them without reading their labels. The museum director explained that an object becomes more meaningful when people understand the story behind it.
Salma joined a group of student volunteers who were preparing short descriptions for younger visitors. Instead of copying difficult historical language, they interviewed older residents and checked facts with the museum team. They also recorded simple audio explanations for people who preferred listening. A broken clay bowl, for example, became a clue about how families once cooked and shared meals.
On the opening day, a little boy asked Salma why the museum kept ordinary objects rather than only expensive treasures. She told him that heritage belongs to everyday people too. By the afternoon, families were discussing their own memories and offering more photographs. Salma discovered that protecting the past also meant inviting a community to take part in its future.
