The Interview That Became a Conversation

During a school career week, Dina applied for a short internship at a local design studio. She had prepared a list of achievements but worried that she did not have enough experience. Her teacher reminded her that employers also value curiosity, responsibility and a willingness to learn. Dina practised introducing herself without memorising a long speech.

At the interview, the manager asked about a project that had not gone as planned. Dina described a class poster that her team had finished late. She explained that their original timetable was unrealistic and showed how she had created a simpler plan for the next task. The manager asked follow-up questions about teamwork, and Dina listened carefully before answering. When she did not understand one question, she politely asked for clarification.

Before leaving, Dina asked what an intern would learn during the first month. The manager appreciated that she wanted to understand the role rather than only win the position. Dina was offered a trial day, but she considered the interview valuable even before hearing the decision. She had learned that a strong interview is an honest two-way conversation, not a performance of perfect answers.
